About Spring Creek
On Wednesday evening, January 22, 2003, a group of 55 people gathered to talk about how Jesus could best be lifted up in and around Tomball. It was decided at that meeting to start the Spring Creek Church of Christ.
On February 2, 2003, the Spring Creek family met for its first worship service in the Elmer L. Beckendorf Conference Center, located on the campus of Tomball College. 121 people were present that first Sunday and all 121 placed membership. The congregation committed itself to prayer, community, and lifting up Jesus. It was a great beginning that has continued to bless the community of Tomball.
Paul Michna preached the first sermon and continued to preach until January 2007. At that time, the congregation hired Jonathan Sanford who preached from January 2007 until October 2008. Bill Rasco started in March 2009 and continues to serve as minister.
The first elders were installed in April 2003. Four men agreed to serve - Charlie Byrd, Harold Hillegeist, Paul Michna, and Pat Wuensche. Harold Hillegiest served as an elder in Tomball for more than 40 years, both at the old Tomball Church of Christ and at Spring Creek. Harold passed away in February 2008, leaving a legacy of prayer and faith.
The congregation met on the campus of Tomball College until August of 2005. From August 2005 until February 2006, the family at Spring Creek met in a store front property located near the old Klein grocery store on Main Street. February 2006 to February 2008 found the congregation meeting in a building located on Kingbird Street. The Spring Creek Church of Christ started meeting in the current building on Brown Road in February 2008.
The Spring Creek family continues its commitment to being a light for the world in Tomball. Dedicated to being disciples of Jesus, Spring Creek seeks God, shares life, studies the Bible, and serves others. Come be a part of a warm, loving family of God!
